hangout Blue factory threatened with closure
The site is for sale. The association has developed a concept of how the site could be obtained for the Arts.
proclaimed the last few weeks, a sign on the blue factory on the Prießnitzstraße that buildings and land are sold. "This was specifically what we always suspected," said Holger Knaak, a board member of the Blue Factory Artists' Association since 1992 eV have found on the Prießnitzstraße a painter and musician a home and developed the place as a cultural center. There were studios and workshops, in the hall for concerts and exhibitions. Teams also use spaces and cultural initiatives. "But last year the old man died, it all belonged. The heirs want to sell now, "says the board member. "If we are unlucky, you get a tender, which is halted everything and build loft apartments and underground car parks here."

Yet the artists' association is fighting for the place of worship. Even with great prescience, they did a year ago, work by architects and architectural Ruairí O'Brien a substantive concept, as it could go on with the Blue Factory, which is in need of repair without question. "The office is on cultural development projects specialized, "said Holger Knaak. "If we find an investor with a heart for the special atmosphere of the area, the cultural center could be obtained."

The concept provides a careful reconstruction and expansion of plant and grounds in front. This would in addition to the existing studios and workshops occur more rentable samples, exhibition, meeting and office space. "For the gaps provides the architect of modern residential buildings, whereby a part of the renovation could be financed," says Holger Knaak. A concept that convinces even the Department of Culture, which aims to support artists' association, "the house of artistic and cultural Purposes to keep open, "as it says in a letter to the association.

But time is running. From the real estate firm Richardson & Oertel is to know that candidates already exist. Whether with ambitions to preserve the cultural center, is not to learn. It would be nice, it would find an investor who would implement the concept of artists' association. "It would be for him to invest in the future," says Holger Knaak.

Ruairí O'Brien creates "Lichtmasterplan Poetika" for the City Of Frankfurt

"heaven"
For this year's "Luminale" lighting festival in Frankfurt am main I created a lighting poetry masterplan. This is an interesting development which has grown out of my "Citypoems" which I have developed for several cities.
I started at 6.00 a.m. in the main train station and walked through the city creating or capturing light poetry moments for 24 hours. One day and one night in the life of a great urban world.
Above you see one of my stops (Midday) at the Cathederal "Dom" in the centre of the city. The photo is called "Himmel" which means in English not just Sky but also Heaven.

Luminale Pecha Kucha Night

even more poetic was the talk of Ruairí O'Brien. The Dublin-born architect, lighting designer and artist currently living in Dresden, has his own office. Ruairí O'Brien. Architecture. Light. Art.
O'Brien's lecture was a single poem, the guests took you into the world of light art. With words, thoughts and images on the subject, he drew the guests in his spell. While he was on stage, you could have heard a pin drop.
