Hingegen sind 49% anderer Ansicht, 26% sind indifferent. Ein besonders negatives Bild haben aus der Kirche ausgetretene Personen (70% meinen dass die Priester kein gutes Ansehen haben). Die größte Wertschätzung haben noch katholische Sonntagskirchgänger (34% Zustimmung) und evangelische Kirchgänger (25% Zustimmung). GfK schließt daraus, dass hier offenbar der Grund zu suchen ist, warum Priester so ein falsches Selbstbild haben, weil sie eben meist mit Leuten zusammenkommen, die über sie gut denken.
Fragt man die Priester selbst, so sehen sie sich gleich hinter den Ärzten und vor den Richtern auf Platz 2 der Beliebtheitsskala. Am unteren Ende der Skala stehen Journalisten, Banker und Politiker (in den Augen der Priester).
